If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you probably know how I feel about Michael Pollan: I heart him... although I have kinda stalled on "Omnivore's Dilemma." Not that the book isn't terrific, because it is. I just have more pressing dilemmas at the moment than those related to my omnivorousness.
Since I've been sick all weekend and am still struggling to do complicated things like KEEP MY EYES OPEN, I'm going to wimp out on blogging and instead share with you Michael Pollan's Food Rules. Straight from the New York Times Magazine.
My favorite? "Eat foods in inverse proportion to how much its lobby spends to push it." Excellent advice.

My favorite food-ism these days is "eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen and dinner like a pauper." I haven't totally incorporated it into my life just yet, but even in my meager attempts to follow this theory I've lost about 10 lbs in the past 2 months.

"If you're craving something, go ahead eat a sensible portion of it." I really wanted a pastry the other day -- puffed, fruity or almondy inside. Finally found it (after I bought a donut) and it was exactly what I needed. I'm sure if I had eaten the donut instead, it would not have helped.

Always follow my young son's advise about food. It never tastes as good as the first portion, so don't go for seconds.

Excellent advice, all. The chocolate one made me laugh. I'm not eating sugar right now, but I've already decided that if I get pregnant, I'm going to eat as much chocolate as I want.
