I come home every night to a DVR that's packed to its digital gills-- Undercovers, The Whole Truth, Lone Star, Outlaw, L&O- Los Angeles, The Defenders, Blue Bloods, Detroit 1-8-7, Hawaii 5-0, Nikita, GOOD GOD MAKE IT STOP!!!
And TV is my business. It's my thing. It's what I do.
I LOVE TV.
But I'll be damned if I can watch everything on every network at this time of year. I try, I really do, but... let's face it. Half of it's not worth watching in the first place. A quarter of it is worth watching, but won't make it to a second season, so why bother? And the other quarter...? There's just not enough time in a day.
So I sample. And fast forward through the boring parts. And just flat-out delete if it doesn't grab me. And the rest, I save for the weekend... when what I really want to be doing is NOT WATCHING TV.
'Tis the season.
Sooner or later (usually sooner) the herd thins, and only the strong survive.
Unfortunately, strong does not always mean best.
This year, based solely on the first episode, I think Hawaii 5-0 is my front runner for favorite new show. Incredible production value, terrific cast, excellent writing-- the whole package.
Although seeing Alex O'Loughlin, from The Shield, fighting James Marsters, from Angel, on top of that ship at the end was seriously bizarre-- WP and I wrote Alex's first episode of The Shield, and worked with James on Angel, which made it a little hard to lose myself in Hawaii 5-0 land.
I kept thinking, "Why is Hiatt beating up Spike?"
What are you watching and liking this TV season?
